This is in response to the tosser who called us all bigots.

I actually don't see what happens on here as bigotry.

This is a support forum for AS people to come.

A lot of AS people do have trouble in the world and part of that trouble is trying to get along with NT's.

When a person with AS is excluded, ostracised, bullied, humiliated and abused in a world that is largely dominated by NT's, then of course it is going to cause a certain amount of resentment.

WP is a place where people with AS who do experience these hardships can come and vent a little.

I don't see any harm in that.

There I've said it.

Hang me!

I think a problem is all NT's getting pegged as Alpha types.

I know for documented fact that there are tons of NT kids that get excluded, ostracised, bullied, humiliated and abused, because I read what they have to say about it on a daily basis.

These NT kids as well as ASD kids get this kind of treatment from Alpha type people. And having gone to school all my life with all autistic kids, I know of some Alpha autistic types as well. I have been bullied by more Alpha autistic kids then NT kids in my life so far.

Not all NT's are Alpha a**holes. It just seems that way.

I agree with BB.
Not all <fill in the blank> are <blank>. Of course not. As a support forum, do we need to qualify every vent with PC tiptoeing?

Everyone has struggles and hard times in life. Through autism into the mix, and things can get exponentially more challenging. There are communication issues, emotional issues, and usually little to no social support structure in place. People do not need to hear "suck it up", because that's just more invalidation and it's not a concrete solution. Most of us just want to feel relatable, understood, and heard. Sometimes this is the only place to find it.

Yeah, and I got a bit irritated with the researcher who asked for help to 'correct' autism
I realize that some suffer with it and wish they did not have it, so they should be able to want help, but as far as I'm concerned, there is nothing that needs to be corrected about me. (well, I wouldn't mind a less big ass  )
I follow the rules, don't hurt people, try to be considerate toward others etc, and would also be happy and capable of meeting all of the requirements of a successfully functioning human, such as independence, if someone would give me a job! I just need someone to realize that I can do the job even if I don't quite juggle all the same balls when job hunting. If the NT's were not so BIGOTED, assuming that just because I was an aspie, that I must be somehow inferior, then my life would be easier. When I try explaining it to them, they are oh so nice and supportive but they still reject me. When I don't try to explain it, they just dismiss me as inferior anyway.

OK, so that was also a bigoted statement, which it usually is whenever you make a blanket statement describing any innate quality about any group of people, but the idea that I need correcting because I have Aspergers is as insulting as saying my eyes need correcting because they are blue. (well, I do like brown eyes myself  )

I think it is easier for NT's to lump autistics together because there is a label they can use, whereas they don't see themselves as having one. All NT's are different, and all autistics are different. There are bigoted individuals in both groups. One groups outnumbers the other group and is more dominating. I don't have a problem with being in my group.

So there.

As long as venting doesn't involve 'All NTs are so stupid and irrational bla bla bla' then I'm fine with it.

The trolling doesn't normally bother me but I just took particular offence to that one. :)

An autistic person saying horrible things about NTs is bigotry no matter what their excuse is.

There's a difference between being frustrated with an NT not understanding you, and just hating NTs for being NTs.
