Egotistical people??
There are so many arrogant egotistical people at school they confuse me
I don't get them much because there's nothing in any human to see themselves above any other human, I see it this way; we're all powerless weak humans who can't even prevent many bad things from happening, we can't control life and how things turn out to be, we can't even save children's lives, sometimes we can't even save ourselves and we rely on someone else's power to survive, we were born weak relying on adults to help us live then we grow old relying on someone young to help us. Well I don't know about others and how they feel because everyone has their own view of things depending on their life and circumstances and experience, so how do you view all of this????
True, but I think no one is exempt. We can see others more objectively, but may not be able to apply it to our own lives. Emotions, learned patterns, prejudices, and lack of distance All can contribute to bad decisions.

They play a game of "self improvement" geared to helping individuals work their way up through hierarchies.
They get a chemical reward in their brains for doing so.
My own view is that no one in the history of the Earth has ever improved themselves.
They only convince themselves and others that they have. It's a shared illusion.
I have many goals, but making myself seem "better" than someone else is not one of them.
What is "better" today could be rejected tomorrow.
Not all of them, some of them are very overconfident
That's denial. Yes some people really believe their own hype. But deep down they know the truth is that being human means being vulnerable, in all kinds of ways they don't want to think about. That's why they become arrogant. It's a defense mechanism.

Their view is validated by the people around them, so they may be able to believe their own hype intuitively. They could easily avoid any conscious thought about justifying their view through logic. That sort of self-invalidation is quite uncomfortable for most people, and so they avoid it. They prefer to just collect validation from other people.

Very true, also not everyone who feels weak and powerless acts arrogant or egotistical either.

I don't get it either, I can't even comprehend how someone could fool themselves so easily. I agree with olympiadis, I don't think people are improving and becoming better, at least not in the way they seem to think.
NTs just confuse me.

I agree with you no one needs to prove themselves to anyone by 'improving'
But I think people do improve like a lazy person becomes more energic, but thats not a reason to see self above others

Well most egotistical people I know like this annoying boy at school are egotistical from their surrounding like a lot are being fed up pride and that they're better than others for some specific delusional points from their parents or praise they get from others
The insecure people mostly show off and are loud but the ego ones are usually quiet and anti social at times thinking they are too good for people

Yeah and many weak and insecure people are really nice because of their insecurity and weakness they can also feel more empathy towards others

Not all egotistical people are NTs there are many people on the spectrum who are very egotistical like when some of them think they're 'above' others because of certain abilities people on the spectrum have that others don't
I tend to look at things in different ways, like thru different lens. One lens is looking at people as a type of animal. In that picture they compete endlessly for dominance or improved position in the pack hierarchy. Egotism, feeling superior, suppressing others, may be all psychological aspects of the more instinctive drive to survive and propagate.
I used to think and feel this way but I found it too cruel why should I see myself above others they didn't choose to be 'lesser' its all 'luck' so its cruel you can't change your 'value'
