Why is it if you dress cool or look smart people are less likely to make exceptions for you if you make a mistake socially?

What do you mean by "dress cool" or "look smart"?

Suit, tie, jacket?

Where I live, boots, jeans, belt, pearl button shirt, denim jacket or denim vest, bolo tie, and a hat is very cool and gets you better treatment.

If you look smart people will most likely expect you to be higher functioning and hold you to a higher standard.

Having a horse with you is a very classy touch. After all, what women can resist a horse?



Just don't forget to wear your pants legs OVER the boots, not tucked into them. It just makes you look like a clueless poser from the city. There is an exception for this, though -- if you are shoveling sh*t in the stable.

One big mistakes I saw was a male wearing a tie as a belt at his sister's wedding. Fred Astaire could pull it off, but this guy at the wedding looked kind of foolish.

I am beyond a state of boredom, so may as well rank these outfits to pass the time.

10 / 10. Classic suit. Nice use of contrast. Excellent tie. Just the right amount of colour.



6 / 10. The fact that the bottom button on the waistcoat is undone bothers me. Also, I don't like the tie. The waistcoat seems a bit creased (might just be the fabric). I think the shirt would look better if it was cuffed back to the elbows in a neat fold.



8 / 10. I prefer the darker suit out of these two. The tie is interesting but not too loud, it provides some character to the outfit but doesn't distract from the overall look. It's classy. I like it.

Edgy and casual. A significant amount of my customers at work dress like this. The jacket would look better if it was cropped a bit. I'm not a fan of the trousers. Perhaps some longer socks but that might be a controversial opinion. Surely the shoes must be rubbing on the back of the feet though? Doesn't look comfortable.

Colour wise, this isn't half bad. There's some decent coordination going on here. However, I'd choose either the flannel or the jacket. Not both. It's not the most interesting, but it's not that bad.

...What on Earth is going on here? One button done, the others undone. I don’t like this checkered print. Why the scarf? The casual stance and the jeans mixed with the jacket...it's clearly supposed to be smart casual but I don't vibe with this outfit.

That's just my bored opinion though.

I remember as a kid (when we used to wear a suit and tie to church every Sunday), to never button all the buttons. I've never understood the reason, though.

Also, I have never heard it apply to vests. I hadn't even noticed that the bottom button was undone. That tie is not something I would have worn, though. It's too flash for my tastes.

Also, they need a hat. For that kind of suit, a Fedora would look nice. On the others, a Stetson Open Road would be preferable.
