Why in heaven's name aren't the prosecutors doing their job and charging these so called friends who held that epileptic hostage with murder?

Absolutely. Even if he HAD died of a seizure, and even if he would have had a seizure at that time if he had not been tortured, the fact that he was locked in a shed made in impossible for anyone to witness the seizure or to help him. It also prevented him from doing anything for himself, like calling for help. At the very least it was depraved indifference to have left him starving and locked up, which is 2nd degree murder over here (I think; I'm no lawyer). Completely outrageous that they were allowed to plead to such minor charges for criminal acts which resulted in a death.

Unfortunately, all this crap about "hate crimes" hides the fact that in many urban parts of the UK everyone is at risk from random acts of violence. If someone is locked in a shed and tortured to death, should it make a difference if they're epileptic, black, gay or a middle-class white male? Of course it shouldn't, but in reality it does. Some of the most vile cases of torture resulting in death are committed against white, able-bodied heterosexual males, yet they rarely make the news. There was one lad captured by an ethnic-minority gang, who was castrated before being burnt to death. But that's not considered newsworthy.
