mildly epileptic as i PM'd.

the weird thing is that i found out about it last year. the doctor showed me the MRI and there was part of my brain that was shaped differently and he said that part was the cause. It was always there but it never caused a problem until i was 22.

I have mild epilepsy. I get these random blackout seizures.

I never used to have a problem with them, that I recall anyway. But I was put on Neurontin for nerve pain, and now they are a pain in the behind. I can function pretty well normally, I just don't remember doing so.

I just had my disability physical for epilepsy. It was pretty clear the nurse didn't have a clue about how seizures cause hallucinations and mood swings, but I figured it might be in my best interest if she thought I was psychotic, so I didn't bother to go into a lengthy detail of just what happens when a seizure occurs in your temporal lobe.

Considering most everyone has at least one seizure in their life time you would think medical professionals would know the basics of seizures, wouldn't you?

that is so true most of them don't have the first clue about epilepsy or seizures and the types of seizures too. i think that you shouldn't put it down as you been physcotic because if you don't get treated for it, it ill just get worse and worse and then more serious too. some people can die from epilepsy, in my piont of view epilepsy is a life threatning illness, not a disease but an illness. i think you shouldn't give up keep trying and get your voice heard till someone listens.

I am being treated for it - this was a physical for disability, no treatment decisions involved.

I know one AS girl (I think she has AS but not entirely sure) and two NT girls with epilepsy.
I think they take medication for it.

One thing I remember about it was that stress triggered attacks for one of the NT girls. She would have difficulty sometimes because she would take too much on in her life and then have a seizure. Another time she had guy problems and was very upset and she had an attack a few days later. I roomed with her and I remember it happening a couple of times.

She is quite young, I think she will learn how to manage her stress levels in time anyway.

My aunt has epilepsy, and I have periouds where I sometimes have horrible head-rushes where I pass out and hit the floor -- though it's never been checked out.

I had seizures as an infant, but for some reason, I grew out of that type of epilepsy. I wasn't diagnosed with Asperger's until I was an adult. My NT brother also has epilepsy, but that was from a head injury after a serious car accident when he was 15. The anti-seizure medicine has worked so he's able to legally drive since it's been a few years since the last seizure.
