I'm not sure if anyone here has ever heard of british comedian and philosopher Pat Condell. But his philosophy is dead on when answering the questions of the idiocy of organized religion. Not since George Carlin has their been someone to stand up to the organized religions and the dogmatic nonsense they shove up everyone else's butts. If you are atheist, agnostic, pantheist, or even a narrow-minded religious drone, check him out!

I watched his video titled "Take your God and shove it" and I must say this man is no better than the radical close-minded Christians. So now we have a radical close-minded atheist, that's any better? No. (this is coming from an atheist)

That's a philosopher? Better-spoken than most bitter, cynical atheists, but no better in content.

Well, if relidiots didn't constantly shove their dogmatic doodoo down our throats constantly, then people like Condell and Carlin wouldn't have to rebel against it. Hey, believe whatever the hell you want but keep it to yourself.

Look at this board. The only time religion is brought up is when atheists like yourself are trying to disparage it. Who is shoving dogmatic doodoo down who's throat here? I agree with your last statement, and wish you would practice what you preach.

That being said, though, he does have a point in that radical christians are constantly trying to shove the Christian faith down other people's throats. Hell, I get lectured sometimes about it, except that in my case, since I am already a follower of Christ, I can often quote the Bible right back at them, fighting them effectively on their terms...

Ragtime hasn't even posted in PPR lately, and it's been several months since the last time he's participated in a religious discussion here. I have never brought up religion on my own here, not in the entire time I've been on WP and I challenge you to prove me wrong on that one. Seriously. Find one example, just one, of me bringing up religion on this board. I never have. I don't proselytize on this board. You and other anti-theists do. The most I have ever done is respond to over-exaggerated attacks against religion, and even then I refrain from posting in all the anti-theist threads. And I'm hardly dogmatic, certainly less so than you seem to be. I am not shoving my beliefs down anyone's throats; I have never attempted to convince anyone on this board that my religious beliefs are the correct ones; indeed, I hardly ever discuss my specific religious beliefs. I highly doubt you could even describe my religious position very clearly.

So again... which of us starts threads devoted to attacking the others' beliefs? Which of us takes every opportunity to disparage and insult the other for their beliefs? Who then is shoving dogmatic doodoo down who's throat?

How about this... believe whatever the hell you want, but keep it to yourself.

George Carlin was funny when he bashed religion. Pat Condell is pretty boring.

Actually, I'll agree here. At least when Carlin bashed my faith, he was witty and clever. Condell just sounds like every other bitter atheist blogger.

Obnoxious people are obnoxious people, regardless of their religious persuasion. Dawkins annoys me, and Falwell annoys me. The main reason I ever have conflict with the radical Christians is when they try to debate me on evolution. (No, Michael Behe is not a reputable, respected scientist) It does kind of suck being villainized and pigeonholed by both sides. Well, ToS, I guess that's just the burden that comes with being radical moderates.

I don't really find him all that funny honestly, George Carlin on the other hand is a different story. Shame he couldn't have stuck around for a few more years. And regarding the title, I wouldn't say he's not intelligent, as he is, but I wouldn't go as far as saying he's "One of the smartest people ever!", that's ridiculous. Also I can't fathom how he's 'bitter', then again I also can't see how Dawkins could be either as they don't appear that way. And even if they were both bitter old men, they make good arguments that I don't see the other side disputing, then again the other side isn't the one with arguments that actually make sense now is it?
