Why is it that some people think homosexuals chose to be gay?

I think some people do choose to be gay for any number of reasons. Most people who are gay are born that way.

I've heard of women being driven to lesbianism by bad experiences with men, but not the other way around. Maybe women are naturally more open to experimentation.

I think people who say they had chosen to be homosexual were homosexual before.

I mean, when I was younger I used to say I was heterosexual and repressed my homosexual desires, it felt wrong for me and I was scared to become homosexual THOUGH I supported every homosexual couple and said "if I were homosexual..."
I realized later that I was bisexual (and still am, with phases) and I don't care anymore if my "true love" will be a woman or a man. But I didn't chose to be bisexual because I couldn't find any boyfriend or had bad experiences, I just am.

If people really chose to be homosexual, then why would some people decide to be when most people hate them ?

I do know some people who chose a "side", that's because they are bisexuals and feel obliged to be either heterosexual or homosexual according to which gender they prefer.

Some people are naturally "out" and make no attempt to hide their gayness. For others, gayness is a deep dark secret which they would never intentionally reveal to anyone.

Why this difference?

If you are gay, you are born gay and do not choose to be gay. A gay person can choose whether or not to partcipate in homosexual activites. Some choose to participate in heterosexual activites.

If you are straight you are born straight and do not choose to be straight. A straight person can choose whether or not to participate in heterosexual activities. Some choose to participate in homosexual activities.

What I think is a better question is why does it matter? What, there's something wrong with choosing to do it mano-o-mano rather than mano-o-femo?

just as people can be driven into pedophilia (having been rejected by adults and finding out that kids are easy victims) they can for various reasons choose to be with someone of the same sex if they were not 100% straight to begin with.

allegedly, most people are more or less bisexual, and 100% gay and 100% straight are both kind of rare (at least that's what Kinsey says).

No one ever had to choose whether to be attracted to males or females. There are physiological differences between gay and non-gay people.

Quote:
Recent studies have found notable differences between the physiology of gay people and non-gay people. There is evidence that:

The average size of the INAH-3 in the brains of gay men is approximately the same size as INAH 3 in women, which is significantly smaller, and the cells more densely packed, than in heterosexual men's brains.
The suprachiasmatic nucleus was found by Swaab and Hopffman to be larger in gay men than in non-gay men, the suprachiasmatic nucleus is also known to be larger in men than in women.
The anterior commissure is larger in women than men and was reported to be larger in gay men than in non-gay men, but a subsequent study found no such difference.
Gay men report, on an average, slightly longer and thicker penises than non-gay men.
Gay men's brains respond differently to fluoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor.
The functioning of the inner ear and the central auditory system in lesbians and bisexual women are more like the functional properties found in men than in non-gay women (the researchers argued this finding was consistent with the prenatal hormonal theory of sexual orientation).
The startle response (eyeblink following a loud sound) is similarly masculinized in lesbians and bisexual women.
Three regions of the brain (medial prefrontal cortex, left hippocampus, and right amygdala) are more active in gay men than non-gay men when exposed to sexually arousing material.
Gay and non-gay people emit different armpit odors.
Gay men are more likely to have a counter-clockwise hair whorl pattern.
Gay and non-gay people's brains respond differently to two human sex pheromones (AND, found in male armpit secretions, and EST, found in female urine).
Finger length ratios between the index and ring fingers may be different between non-gay and lesbian women.

This clearly shows that it's not a choice. Why would someone choose to be called "fa***t" or "dyke" constantly?

People can be driven to do some pretty awful things, but is pedophilia really one of them? I am not sure.

And those that do choose to be gay talk about doing and having done so.
