Curious Incident Sells Millions!!
The novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, aimed at children and adults, has notched up hardback and paperback sales of more than one million copies in 15 months, the publishers, said yesterday.
The story, by Mark Haddon, is told through the words of a 15-year-old boy who has Asperger’s syndrome and has proved to be a runaway. Published last May it went on to win the £30,000 (approx. $50,000 USD) Whitbread Book of the Year.
“With the exception of Harry Potter, we believe that this is the first time a book has sold one million copies in the adult and children’s market so soon after publication,” said Mike Broderick, of Random House.
