I was so tired that I actually fell asleep to the sound of nearby fireworks (at dusk). But when I awoke, there were none. And that is very weird. Normally things carry on until 4am ish, but it's been completely silent since at least midnight. So I have to wonder at the why... Is it that fireworks co...

This has been excellent, & I chose it while randomly roaming the library stacks.

There are poly groups on facebook, many by location/area. Our biggest local one does weekly meetups at restaurants in different parts of the city. A good place to start may be on fetlife with one of the poly groups on there. It can be a very oddly tight-knit community.

Some of my fave local businesses have put up signs on their doors about how regular pets & esas are not service animals, & thus not allowed inside. And they enforce! I've walked out of a number of places because they won't enforce or confront patrons. That's their right, but so is mine to le...

Have you tried plugging the new one in elsewhere? If it's just that outlet that's bad, then you'll at least still have a working microwave. Our huge 1980s one just died, & I'm looking into getting it repaired instead of buying a new one. They're all much shorter nowadays, and the smaller ones ar...

As a complete non-hunter, I googled. I had assumed that trophy hunting didn't mean leave to rot, but to take home, mount the head, & dispose of the rest. Looking up the licensing stuff, it looks legal to kill the deer then bag it up to dispose of properly (or take it home to turn into dinner). I...

From what I can find, it's perfectly legal in Indiana & Michigan for white tail deer.

Goodwill, Salvation Army, Am Vets, etc usually have a cheaper selection of canes. Pharmacy related places also usually have them (around here anyway).

If you're in the US, do any of the local public schools hold an "extended school year"? These are generally for special ed kids so they don't lose skills over summer break.

You'll be missed. It'll be good to see you back again. Enjoy the break! Sometimes that's the healthiest thing to do.

Occasionally one of us gets barely upset at not having kids, but 99% of the time we're quite fine with it. We would have been much more limited in our lives if we'd been tethered by children. Not that we've done amazing things, but it's a financial, mental, physical, emotional, etc. burden that we'r...

Were you banned for bringing politics into it? That's also against the rules in some.

I rarely post on reddit, but I read about fifteen to twenty subs. I tend to avoid all the autism related ones except to read r/Aspergers & r/SpicyAutism . My experiences & opinions don't line up, so it's just not worth the eye-rolling & internal upsetness. ( r/SpicyAutism can be eye open...

So, as my stomach/intestinal issues are finally irritating me enough, I should try a limited diet. The problem is that they generally start with BRAT (banana, rice, apple(sauce), toast), but only the bananas don't cause issues. Anyone know of an elimination diet that starts with a different set of &...
