You'll get to a point where you don't care about keeping up with others in that regard. Yep - you'll leave it waaaay behind. Plus it's nice to get the washing and house-work done early, leaving the entire weekend free to work on those fun projects that have occupied your thoughts during your time a...

Have been toe-walking all my life and it doesn't look to be going away anytime soon. Only do it barefoot or in socks, indoors or outdoors just the same. Has been commented on by girlfriends in the past - they're the only ones who've seen me do it, since I don't hang out with anyone else often enough...

I don't have any interest in AFL and during the week leading up to the drawn game I'd taken a couple of days off work to stay home and avoid the hoo-hah (I work in East Melbourne and travel through the city). I did actually listen to the last quarter of that game and during the final few minutes the...

As a child, I built cubby houses where I could go and spend time alone. Now as an adult, my home is like that. Everything is collapsed into the lounge room and centred around my favourite place in the world: my desk/s. It's like "mission control" and a lot of time and energy goes into setting it/the...

Yes - avoid the cracks and ensure that my strides are of such length that my right foot completes the square on a count of four or, if not, ensure that the set of four can be completed in subsequent squares, or at least compensated for in some other way. If the set of four is not completed, it feels...

Once you take responsibility for your own business, things will get much easier. You've already demonstrated that you can improvise solutions to meet your own needs - keep going with that. Living alone is a tremendous advantage in that respect and I suggest you take full advantage of it. Is it reall...

Yes - all these issues are well known to every public transport user here in Melbourne, be they NT or Aspie or anywhere in between. Aspies will be particularly vulnerable to this...well, I call it "assault" because that's really how it feels to me when I travel on the train/tram/bus. The noise, the ...

It would make for an interesting study to see if this was a kind of "spin-off" Aspie trait which might be related to difficulties with socialising, since speech is a such a large part of that experience. In my own experience, I have a slightly English accent even though I was born in Australia and h...

This has to be one of my biggest problems in life. It's not just the loud noises that bother me, it's all the little irritating, unnecessary noises that drive me insane. Stereos, TVs, headphone leakage, the neighbours moving about, the neighbour's water heater, people who talk loudly/incessantly, th...

That's what it's been like for so many years now: surviving in isolation, getting by, understood by none that I know, unable to relate, reluctant to even try because of the condescension that will likely ensue. What's kept me going is the thought that the answer might be just around the corner, and ...
