Also, this video summarizes a lot of the site's principles: Were you traumatized as a child? How do you know?

It taught me a lot about my own emotional wounds, and helped me to look at them differently.

Hi everyone, I'm a regular reader here, but haven't posted in probably a couple years. I'm posting now to share an ad-free, cost-free online self help course that has been very helpful to me and changed the way I look at the cognitive and mood difficulties (anxiety, chronic sadness, lonliness, low s...

Nothing is an ethnic distinction; there's no genetic difference between ethnicities... I'm not saying it's an ethnic distinction, I'm saying it could become one. My skin is white because my genetics are different than an African. An Asperger's ethnic category makes no sense. It is a neurological va...

Lately I've been looking into seeing a therapist to improve my social skills and small talk. While the thought of doing this motivates me, I've come across a not-so-small problem: where to go. I'm an introverted, socially awkward (or so I think) young adult with minor social anxiety but no diagnoses...

Read this a few days ago in the Times. I had heard a little about the vaccination theory/scandal, but was skeptical of claims that autism is caused by vaccines. This article justified my uncertainties; it depicts the medical establishment as shrouded in doubt and shaped by private interests (again, ...

What if a person has a mixture of both social anxiety and ASD traits? This. I don't think the two are at all mutually exclusive. In fact, in the "Social Thinking-Social Communication Profile" paper by Michelle Winner (and others) -- posted on this site about a month ago -- the authors argue that th...

I was asked several days ago why I had started rocking back and forth while pushing on the trunk of my car. I couldn't think of a good answer, so I sort of shrugged and the people with me commented that it looked like I was humping my car. Really embarrassing.

Hi, I've been reading the forums here for close to a year, and have learned a lot about AS from many of the posts. Reading about others' experiences has been vital to broadening my understanding of AS (this has helped much more than browsing online diagnostics and symptom lists). Anyhow, I've finall...
