I have not attended a meeting in at least four years, although I maintain membership. During thirteen years of continuous membership, I have attended less than eight meetings. I find social events to be generally uncomfortable. However, I have nothing negative to say about the meetings I have attend...

Theoretical limitations are merely that; theoretical. The fact is that the universe is far bigger than mans knowledge of it. We do not know what we do not know. Most recently, a group of scientists postulated that it is possible to use dark energy to create a wave effect whereby a spacecraft could e...

I am a perfectionist, and it has created significant issues with beginning and completing some tasks.
I eventually learned to remind myself that tasks do not have to be done perfectly, they just need to get done. Otherwise, I focus on minute details.

Whenever I deal with anything aggressive, unfamiliar, or familiar in a negative way, I freeze up. It is like being a robot and being splashed with a bucket of water and short circuiting. I don't literally freez up, but deep inside I do, and I feel all rubbery and jello-like physically. *snip* Becau...

however, we tend to absorb more emotional damage because essentially, we are walking around in the dark and only able to deal with what we've learned through our night vision. it shouldn't be any wonder that we are blindsided when it comes to traumatic experiences. I believe that is a very astute o...

I scored 45 on the AQ test. I am a bit surprised.
I periodically retake the RDOS Aspie Quiz. I typically score between 158-168 on the Aspie portion, and between 48-54 on the Neurotypical portion.

That's like killing your parents, then complaining because you are an orphan.

I'm not certain if my responses to a traumatic incident could be considered unusual or exceptional. However, after a particular incident in my life, I did not smile for a year and a half. I also could not listen to practically any music with lyrics without becoming extremely depressed. I was also ev...

I need to be alone much of the time. I never expose myself to situations where I will be unable to find solitude. There are times when I would like to have a mate or when I like to be with a friend for a period of time, although as I am inclined to be primarily alone, I have not succeeded in acquiri...

I hired into a large trucking company, owned by a friend, as a building maintenance worker. Her executive assistant proudly showed me an advertising brochure they had just had printed, and were preparing to distribute. I immediately pointed out a spelling error that even the printers proofreader had...

I received a negative answer to an AS evaluation from an autism clinic at a major state university. I sought a second opinion from a neuropsychologist, and received an equivocal negative answer, due mainly to a lack of early childhood information regarding developmental milestones. My parents are de...

When I was very young, I lived in an area of southwest Texas where there were many mesas, which are basically flat-topped hills with a small, cliff-like rim called rimrock. I was always visually fascinated by this rimrock, and when I was about 3-4 years old, I hiked across the countryside to see a m...

I am sure that some people might look for a diagnosis thinking that they have AS when they don't have it, but they must surely have some problems that they need help with if they are seeking a diagnosis. If they are not diagnosed they may be able to get help or a different diagnosis which would sui...
