Naïve: a young soul, innocent, a dreamer, unrealistic, immature

I’m ancient, well past my allotted three-score years and ten. I’m also an Aspie, and one of my Aspie traits is that I’m naïve. A consequence of this is that I’m finding great difficulty in accepting old age. As a dreamer, I would prefer to think I can go on forever. The reality I’m finding, that stu...

I have AS. For some years I’ve attempted creative writing, but it has always been a struggle. By nature I’m an uptight person. Uptightness and creativity don’t go together. I don’t drink. I wondered whether unwinding with the use of pot might help my creativity.

Thoughts?

As a wannabe writer, I keep reading the advice “just write.” My understanding of this phrase is that little or no ‘slow and deliberate conscious thought’ is allowed to impede the creation of a first draft. That may be a slight exaggeration, but it helps provide a perspective on further comments. I t...

We are all born clumsy, naive, and lacking social awareness. Some of us never outgrow these three things, but so what? Clumsiness does not make one worthless or useless. Neither does naivete or social ineptitude. Making the best of what you've got is one of life's more sublime lessons, methinks. Th...

Perhaps I should draw everyone's attention back to the first part of the third sentence of my original post - "Born clumsy, naïve, and lacking social awareness" - and ask for it to be absorbed.

The unquestionable fact is , I’m a fairly useless sort of a person. Always have been. Born clumsy, naïve, and lacking social awareness, living for seventy years under those constraints, and AS A RESULT never having achieved anything worthwhile, I’ve finished up feeling as if I’m a genuine loser and...

I was born long before AS was identified as such. I am now 72. Due indirectly** to my AS, my life has been one long floundering disaster which has never had meaning or purpose. Primarily, I put this down to the fact that nothing in my entire life has ever held my interest for long***. ** I could exp...

Okay, for those of you who want details... Here’s a hypothetical situation for you to consider, that explains the concept. Let’s say you’re a home owner. Anyone, from young married with children to elderly and retired. And let’s say you’re thinking of moving house. The reason why is irrelevant. One ...

I wish it was that easy. I've modified my post to give more detail.

You may be able to help me with this business concept problem… I have a totally new business idea for the service industry. I’ve identified a need and found a way to satisfy that need. It involves a part-time Personal Assistant (provided by me) taking over and managing certain activities* in my clie...

Literal thinking is an AS habit.

I think and speak literally but would prefer to be able to do so metaphorically. If I could do this, it would help me with my fiction writing.

So, has anyone else faced this issue and been able to beat it, and if so, how?

Thank you.

Can anyone suggest ways in which I might develop or acquire tolerance/patience/easiness towards other people?

I am a mostly intolerant person, and it affects my relationships. This intolerance possibly stems from my perfectionistic tendencies.

Has your mind ever ceased to function as a creative entity, with nothing there any more, no ideas, nothing, so that all you could do was sit and stare at a wall?

If so, and you’re now over it, what did you do to get it moving again?

Uh, no. It made complete sense if you're trying to, say, flesh out a character, their feelings of affection, for example. It would also make sense if you're just trying to get an angle on the experience for writing anything from journalism to science fiction. It just basically sounds like a good st...
