You asked. What do you think now? It's okay.

Here in the COMMUNIST States of America you are guaranteed to be jailed if anybody calls the cops on you for ANY reason (even if they made up false stories about you). ALL the cops in the U.S. are CRIMINALS. What the hell is wrong with these Hypocrite-Americans who need to remove the beam out of their OWN eye!

Well, it's not as though this thread was seeing much other action. I've been consistent in my condemnation of all sexism, sometimes in opposition to the WP R bloc, and sometimes in agreement with them. It seems that to your side, it's never a problem that the greatest threat to the life of a woman in America comes from her own family.

What, specifically, do you think that the Russian Law is now, as currently practiced, and how do you assert this law will change that?

My impression is that they still will prosecute people who do real harm, not people spanking children or getting into stupid drunken arguments that their neighbors call the cops on. Leaving a mark on someone is a line that they also use a lot in this country too, that's a very clear line that constitutes bodily harm in my opinion. Also we don't know what Russia's law was as far as penalties before, the Russian legal system I don't think is known for being lax so softening penalties might carry a different weight in that country than it does here.

Here is a RT article that tries to give it more context

Sounds like a Russian thing for Russians to worry about.

Logical. Eminently logical.

That said, if anybody from any other country is really that concerned,
they can always find a way to peacefully protest
from sending a letter on up to traveling to Russia and holding a picket sign,
or else they can pray for conversion and a change of heart.

People have issues in thier own countries that they can work on without fussing over Russia. Besides, it doesnt seem to ever bother them that women in Muslim countries are publicly whipped for off the wall infractions. I always find that strange.

It's weird what gets press, we hear about this supposedly terrible homophobia in Russia and now they have this story about domestic violence which to me seems like another story to demonize Russia/Russians. The same people that cry crocodile tears about a temporary travel ban being mean spirited to countries where they enslave women and throw gays off tall buildings think Russia is enemy #1, doesn't make a lot of sense to me. What does the Quran say about wife beating?

You do realize the ban gets in the way of those women and gays leaving, but I suppose their sacrifice if or the greater good...
