Besides... you act as though you don't know the band I'm talking of. What is with that?

I've posted this before but since the topic is on the board again, I'll post it again.

I think an anthem for aspies would be "Alien" by the Atlanta Rhythm Section. I used to hear it on the radio alot when I was growing up and it spoke to me, describing how I felt, and what I hoped for.

Here it is.

The sun just went behind a cloud again
Down crowded streets he walks alone
He's a stranger out of place
A number not a face
All day long, he's all alone

He's feeling like an alien
Feeling like he don't belong
Have mercy cried the alien
Help him find his way back home

The feelings that he feels he can't explain
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, they're all the same
He's lost and all alone
A heart without a home
Standing like a statue, in the rain

He's feeling like an alien
Feeling like he don't belong
Have mercy cried the alien
Help him find his way back home

Now and then we all are aliens
Feeling like we don't belong
Have mercy cried the alien
Help him find his way back home

A christian lecturing me on being silly? How droll.

And to answer your question: It is better than being a wuss.

The Tetris theme should be our anthem :)
it's often in my head, especially since I saw this video

I can't even follow that link from work, and I still resent you for saying that.
I have the music stuck in my head now.

I still think VNV Nation has some of the best music... and this song is at the top of that scale, describing so many feelings that i think relate to this very subject.

"I know it's hard to tell how mixed up you feel
Hoping what you need is behind every door
Each time you get hurt, I don't want you to change
Because everyone has hopes, you're human after all
The feeling sometimes, wishing you were someone else
Feeling as though you never belong
This feeling is not sadness, this feeling is not joy
I truly understand, Please, don't cry now

Please don't go, I want you to stay
I'm begging you please, please don't leave here
I don't want you to hate for all the hurt that you feel
The world is just illusion trying to change you
Please don't go, I want you to stay
I'm begging you please, please don't leave here
I don't want you to hate for all the hurt that you feel
The world is just illusion trying to change you

Being like you are
Well this is something else, who would comprehend?
But some that do, lay claim that
Divine purpose blesses them
That's not what I believe, it doesn't matter anyway
A part of your soul ties you to the next world
Or maybe to the last, I'm still not sure
What I do know is, to use the world is different
As we are to the world but, I guess you would know that

Please don't go, I want you to stay
I'm begging you please, please don't leave here
I don't want you to hate for all the hurt that you feel
The world is just illusion trying to change you
Please don't go, I want you to stay
I'm begging you please, please don't leave here
I don't want you to hate for all the hurt that you feel
The world is just illusion trying to change you"

the song is below, if you want to hear it.

I've sometimes thought of this as my anthem, or even more often, the original: http://www.lyrics007.com/Metallica%20Ly ... yrics.html
When I'm in a better mood, though it's a different Metallica song, Escape:

Feel no pain, but my life ain't easy
I know I'm my best friend
No one cares, but I'm so much stronger
I'll fight until the end
To escape from the true false world
Undamaged destiny
Can't get caught in the endless circle
Ring of stupidity

[chorus:]
Out for my own, out to be free
One with my mind, they just can't see
No need to hear things that they say
Life's for my own to live my own way

Rape my mind and destroy my feelings
Don't tell me what to do
I don't care now, 'cause I'm on my side
And I can see through you
Feed my brain with your so called standards
Who says that I ain't right
Break away from your common fashion
See through your blurry sight

[chorus:]

See them try to bring the hammer down
No damn chains can hold me to the ground

Life's for my own to live my own way

I can't read past the term "mixed up" feelings, myself.

your mileage may vary,

Asperger's Anthem. Great Kinks cover version from 1968.

I've never heard one that specifically relates to my own personal experiences accurately enough. Most, including REM's, are too generically worded IMHO. The Wrong Child could apply to so many different disabilities, not just AS.

I've even written some of my own and not one can be taken alone to apply as an "Anthem" even for myself. The entire body of work I've written so far could be, except that it's not yet finished, and probably never will be. And that is specific to me alone. I agree that there likely isn't ANY one song that even a majority of Aspies would agree sums up our experiences, unless it were something rather generic, but I doubt, as with anything, a majority of us could ever agree on any one song.
