I hardly ever do recreational drugs

If I heard that a guy had dabbled in cocaine recently or had a nonchalant attitude about hard drugs, it would be a dealbreaker for me and a lot of women.

It’s best not to do them at all.

Or just filter people with that sort of attitude out of his life entirely.

What do you mean?

Not everyone is compatible in terms of values. If person A enjoys recreational substances and person B thinks using them represents a moral failing person A is wasting their time to become emotionally invested in person B because person B is always going to look down upon them because their attitude towards recreational substances isn't aligned.

Person A is nonchalant because it's not an issue they use to make judgments, person B meanwhile clearly does make judgments based on that issue. Person B will always have the attitude that they're better than person A because of that judgment.

Or more commonly, drugs is drugs, except my drug of choice which is special and different because I use it.

Using class A drugs isn't necessarily a moral failing - although I am sure that some people believe that.

Personally, I think the worst thing about them is that they can have dangerous side effects.

They have risks that one needs to be careful about managing, no denying that.

People can be against certain drugs without thinking that those who use them are “morally failing.”

Drugs are not all alike. There’s a continuum/spectrum.

Based on this thread, do you think Jamesy using cocaine is a good idea?

Jamesy being half paralysed after a combination of three different class A drugs sounds rather tragic, so I'd say he shouldn't do that kind of thing - mixing drugs especially.

Based on how often it sounds like he's used it I don't think we have enough information to jump to the conclusion that James' coke use is a problem.

I'd say it's a neutral idea.

I don’t think it’s a neutral idea. It could get him in legal trouble among other things.

Back to UCD’s comment, people are free to have whatever dating preferences they want to. Most women would not date someone who uses hard drugs such as cocaine recreationally. I wouldn’t.

Of course everyone is entitled to whatever dating preferences they want, and that includes filtering out people who's values are incompatible with your own, however those may be defined.

I don’t think my take is that unusual. It’s probably a typical one which is what I was getting at. It’s just one red flag in this thread among many, especially when it’s combined with other stuff.

Jamesy is pretty much full of red flags, it seems.
