^ Dantac, exactly. Besides, Sai was put in to be some kind of a lame replacement for Sasuke. Not a very interesting character to me, but at least I don't dislike him like I do Sasuke. Haha.

You make a really good point about Hinata. Just goes to show that Aspie's can be ninjas, too. :) Now all we need to do is send an Aspie to the moon.

Who are your favorite characters, everyone? Mine would be Tobi, but you'd have to read the manga to be more familiar with him. I also like Rock Lee, Kakashi, and Kisame.

OMG The Naked Gun (your avator)! ! :D (am i right?)

It may be weird, but I considered that the main character (yes, Naruto) had some AS traits (at least at the beginning). Here is my argumentation (everything is related to his childhood before age of 13):
- he had trouble making friends (although it was probably caused by the monster)
- he had problems in cooperative work (eg. yelling when everyone should be silent)
- he had problems with authority (eg. with his own teacher and Hokage)
- he was hyperactive (it might be ADHD or... self-stimulation)
- he had special talents and learned some advanced skills as a child (eg. Kage Bunshin no Jutsu, but it could be also a side-effect of the demon fox's existence), but had severe problems with other stuff at school
- he was obsessive about certain food (ramen)
- he was impulsive
- he was considered stupid (because of his impulsiveness and clumsiness in teamwork), but I think he was very underestimated

Naruto in the pilot (manga) was also a little aspergian (although, if I recall, he was not human in it at all). Do you remember his special mission? "Make one friend" :) (to be honest I enjoyed the pilot more than the whole manga).

Arguments against my thoughts:
- later he was able to make friends with ease
- he was empathetic
- relationships was something very important to him

Anyway, who completely fulfill the stereotypes? He definitely had some problems typical for Aspies. However, don't misunderstand me: I didn't diagnosed him with it, it was just a thought. I know that you may strongly disagree with me, because no one mentioned it before.

And sorry for necropost, but I think that my post is interesting enough.

The symptoms are way too broad. Besides, other aspects of his character explain his problems better. For example, isolation from peers and 'breaking' his emotions.

And since when does shy = aspie?

You guys have already accused about half the cast of having asperger's lol.

Well, I suppose most people in this forum are older than teen, but does anyone around here watch Naruto Shippuden? If so, you've probably seen the character Sai.
That character is ABSOLUTELY socially clueless. At one point the other characters go to the library and see him reading a book, the title was something along the lines of "how to make friends". And then an arrow points at him saying: "clueless about friend-making processes".
Aside from the social clumsiness, he does not seem to have other common autistic traits, such as motor coordination and speech issues.
So, do you guys think Sai is an autie/aspie?

From the Wikipedia article:

" (...) Sai has been trained to not possess or desire any type of emotion or camaraderie. After spending time with Naruto Uzumaki, however, he begins to crave bonds with other people, which has since become his primary role in the series. Sai's attempts to form bonds involve giving pet names to others; however, he often says what he actually thinks of a person, resulting him choosing names such as "fatso" and "ugly." He eventually learns from his mistakes and attempts the opposite approach, as evidenced when he calls Ino Yamanaka "gorgeous." When not making an attempt to bond with others, Sai spends his time painting and drawing, and has produced thousands of works. (...) "

I don't know, but I do know that Naruto has ADHD. What about Inuyasha? If you ever have seen it. Don't you think he's Asperger's?

That's a good call. The show's stupid (no offense) but Inuyasha reminds me of myself.

Sai fits certain "symptoms" but they're immediately explained by his training.

Shino Aburame on the other hand (Ninja who uses insects in his ninjutsu) rarely smiles, laughs at inappropriate time, very socially awkward, lack of social cues and understanding why he has no "close" friends, weird speaking tone, unusual hobbies, etc is much closer.

There are other mainstream anime characters who fit the bill even closer, I.E. L from death note.

Sai does not have Aspergers. He was raised being taught that ninja's did not need emotions. Emotions were basically erased from his mind, and he was socially isolated until he was 16 or 17. That's why he seems that way.

You forget the most important trait of Aspergers: The obsessions. That's why I think NARUTO is the one with Aspergers! How could you guys miss that? He's socially oblivious, obsessed with becoming Hokage, clumsy, and hyperactive. Even before I was diagnosed with Aspergers, when Naruto first aired in America, I saw myself in him. He inspired me, despite him being fictional. I'm convinced that the creator of Naruto based his character off of a real Aspie.

Screw it, I'm gonna start a new post on this.

I loooooooooved InuYasha. That series was so excellent. As for him having autism, how did you come to that conclusion? I'm curious.

I'm wondering about this too. I don't recall any traits of it in him :?
