I recently gave up my coke bottles glasses for contact lenses. Mainly as a pragmatic matter - my glasses are so thick that if I'm not looking directly through the "sweet spot" in them when I read music, the staff appears to wrap around itself. It's a bad situation - particularly if my glasses shimmy down my nose during a concert (that happenned last month).

Anyway, now people constantly complement me on my appearance - like tell me that they never realized how pretty my face is or "what a beautiful girl" I am. And it's mostly women, so it's not sexual or anything like that. But I still find it very intimidating and I don't know what to make of it. I definitely like the contact lenses better, but not necessarily the attention...

What is it about the attention that you don't like? I can identify with your situation, but I really like it when bunches of people say nice things about me.

Is this attention from people you already know?

I find clothes to change my appearance to a great extent as well.

If you don't like the attention with using contacts, try wearing more "drab" clothes.
Your wallet will like it as well.

Although, the advantages of being attractive far outweigh the negatives.

I suggest you wait it out, and maybe experiment with new beauty/care techniques.
I think that people are complimenting you because they like your new look, not because they envy you. (Don't know for sure at all, not there)

Yes, the compliments are from people I already know.

I'm not sure what exactly it is that I don't like about it.. maybe the attention? Not sure how to react either?

Just give it a little more time. They're just not used to your new appearance yet.

You don't -have to- react.
Sometimes, i get compliments on my butt or my clothes and i just answer in a mild-laughing voice; 'Oh, thanks'.

Yeah. I like the rush, but sometimes it really
freaks me out.
