This man was AQUITTED of murder charges after it was made known to the jury that he has Asperger’s syndrome and it interfered with his judgement abilities under stress. Unbelievable? Outrageous? Interesting? I’d like to present the link to this article at CBS.com 48 hours mystery because anything in the media about Aspergers is going to influence the way we are perceived by the public.

He was acquitted because his attorney had managed to convince the jury that “if the head doesn’t exist, you must acquit”. Specifically, he claimed it was self-defence and that he disassembled the body in panic… the only proof to disprove his claim is the head, he said, and the head was gone. So no way to disprove self-defence. This actually swayed a Texas jury.
